Fairy tale Friday #15

Well it took a couple of days for everything to settle down after the wedding last week, but everything is back to normal now (well as normal as it can be here at Teddy Bo Towers).

Claire is very busy knitting leg warmers for the camels, as she has heard that we are going to have a very bad winter and although she knows their humps are warm and snug in their hump hats, she is worried about their legs getting cold.

Due to the success of their potato vodka Jill and Helle are thinking about adding a couple of extra additions to their home made booze range, up to now they have experimented with Broad Bean Brandy and Turnip Tequila, they are also toying with the idea of Kidney Bean Kirsch and Cabbage Cider, which they are hoping to have ready for Halloween.

Gayle still has quite a lot of Haggis left over from the wedding - so far this week we have had Haggis Curry, Haggis Stew, Haggis Chilli, Minced Haggis in onion gravy and my favourite so far Haggis nuggets, tonight we are having Haggis Pate! There is still so much left over she is thinking of shaping them to look like Turkeys and freezing them for Christmas dinner!

Kathy, Nicole and Nela have already started making the decorations for our annual Teddy Bo Towers Halloween party. So far Nicole and Nela have carved 200 pumpkins.
This is one of my favourites - Edna first thing in the morning, she’s always a bit of a grump when she gets up, (before she gets her teeth in, pulls her saggy facial skin up into a pony tail on the top of her head and covers it with her wig),
they have captured her ‘just got out of bed’ look perfectly.

Kathy of course, is following them around with her matte white spray paint, deco art Snow Tex, picket fence crackle paint and glitter and shabby chic-ing them all up.

I don't think the new girls Hazel, Maritha and Tammy Louise have quite settled in yet, a day or two ago we found an empty potato vodka bottle floating down the river, when we fished it out there was a message inside it which read-

we are three decent and respectable ladies, who thought we were joining a group of like-minded crafty people, but unfortunately it turns out that we have entered a mad house, full of daft, deranged and dangerous crazy women. They keep camels with knitted hats on their humps, drink alcohol made with leftovers, are almost always drunk... or fighting, eat lots of Haggis and occasionally make a card. Please rescue us before we start thinking that these things are normal!
Yours in desperation,
H, M and TL xx

We didn’t tell them we had found the bottle as we didn’t want to embarrass them and anyway, reading between the lines, we are pretty certain they will have settled in fully in a day or two.

Debbie is busy packing up all her stuff as she is on the move, she is moving from one of the second floor bedrooms to the top floor bedroom, we have told her that it’s because the acoustics are better up there for her singing, but truthfully it’s because it’s the only room up there, and the noise of her squawking singing doesn’t reach us down here on the second floor. She is in a good mood and is skipping up and down the stairs, moving her belongings and singing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, I particularly like the part where she sings
‘Hit me with the windows, something hairy sat on my knee!’ instead of
‘Any way the wind blows, nothing really matters to me’

Tammy and Edna have been waiting excitedly for the postman to arrive, they have cards published in a magazine and our copy was due to arrive yesterday. They both wanted to be the first to see it, so Tammy has been keeping watch with her telescope from the balcony at the top of the tower, and Edna has been loitering around the front door. Tammy finally spotted him entering through the gates and came rushing down the stairs, Edna heard her coming and had bounded out of the front door before Tammy reached the bottom. Tammy had her tractor tyre trainers on and was fairly bouncing down the drive, and it wasn’t long before she had caught up with and was about to overtake Edna.
Edna noticed Tammy about to pass her on the outside and stuck out her foot, Tammy tripped over it and fell flat on her face into a big puddle of mud, right at Edna’s feet.
Edna wasn't going to let anything get in her way and just ran over the top of Tammy, who managed to grab Edna’s ankle as Edna was about to leap off her head. Edna toppled into the mud puddle too and the pair of them started brawling, pulling hair and scratching.
Tammy had pulled Edna’s wig off in the kerfuffle, grabbed hold of her 'pony tail' of saggy skin and started swinging her around, just as the postman came around the bend.
Tammy suddenly let go of Edna, who flew through the air, and landed with her arms and legs wrapped around the trunk of a large oak tree. Slowly she slid down the trunk, collecting lots of splinters in her thighs as she went, and landed on her bottom with a such a thud, that her dentures shot out of her mouth, flew through the air and landed in a cow pat!

The postman on seeing Tammy heading his way, covered in mud from head to foot and with a huge demented looking grin on her face, turned on his heels and ran for his life!

Tammy determined to get hold of the magazine, pulled her whip out of her waistband and flicked it out towards him, it wrapped around his ankles and he fell over, flinging the letters in his hands up into the air as he was falling.
Tammy could see the magazine flying through the air and heading for the muddy puddle that she had just vacated, and as she didn’t want the magazine getting dirty she threw herself into the air to catch it before it landed. By this time Edna had recovered from her tree hugging mishap and seeing Tammy and the magazine flying through the air, she took a huge leap towards it and caught it between her gums as she flew past Tammy’s outstretched hand. Unfortunately the momentum of her leap carried her right across the path and straight into the trunk of the tree opposite, but this time she hit the tree head first and fell to the ground unconscious.
Tammy calmly walked over, removed the magazine from between Edna’s gums, wiped off the blood and saliva, and carried it triumphantly back to the towers.

Edna returned about an hour later, with her dentures in one hand, her wig in the other, blood running down her face and looking just a little dishevelled!

Lesson learned - in future we will make sure we order a copy of the magazine for each person in it!

  1. Today, I'm reading from my daughters house and the boys are sitting trying to watch a movie, but my howelling laughter has them telling me to be quiet...THEM..telling I paused the movie and read out loud to them...perhaps 9 & 7 is a bit young to understand or visualise how I can...especially the splinters...ouch...but did not think it was nice to laugh...Wonderful story. I can see it with leg warmers, teeth in cow patts..[that got them laughing]..and the photo..OMG...
