FairyTale Friday

With the close of the summer (what summer, this is the UK !!) the village held their annual festival which allowed all the locals to come out of their homes and drink excessive amounts of alcohol. It was announced that on the festival day, there would be a parade through the village square and along the main street to the pub on the outskirts of the village.

The girls decided to make a giant Teddy Bo float made from paper mache and used their Distress Inks to create nice fur tones.  Claire spent two nights making a giant woolly hat and jumper. It took so much wool to make she used up the whole villages supply, and Donna was sent out into the farmers field with scissors to chase down some sheep. It shouldn't have been too difficult, but the farmer had left a male ram in the field, and it took a fancy to her. Sheep looked on in amazement as Donna leapt over the fence as the ram struck it, poking his head through to the other side and getting stuck with it's antlers stopping him from pulling his head back out.

Donna took her chance and sheared the ram before releasing the poor bedraggled and wool-less thing back into the field. Funnily enough, he didn't strike it lucky with any sheep that month, not until his woolen coat had regrown.

Meanwhile the float was ready to go. A tractor pulled a small flatbed trailer with Teddy Bo standing proudly 15 feet high. And then the girls luck failed. The wind picked up, the rain started, and Gayle had to hang off a ladder while holding a brolly over Teddy Bo's head.  Jill frantically started to glue Teddy Bo to the trailer, but by then the top of the trailer was soaking wet, and blobs of brown paper started to fall from Teddy Bo.

And then the wind picked up. The girls were struggling to keep control of the float, and then suddenly 'Teddy Bo' was a way. Bouncing and tumbling down the main street like an acrobat. Everytime he landed, the wind picked him up and tossed him further down the street. The girls climbed into the tractor which was unfortunately being driven by Maritha, who drives so slowly that snails pass her by. 15 minutes later they caught up with Teddy Bo. He'd landed in the local pubs beer garden, and someone had very kindly given him a glass of with the day saved the girls decided to stop there for the night and have a few shandies.....2 days later the noise (not to mention the smell of a VERY soggy Teddy Bo) was too much for the landlord and the girls were thrown into the back of the flatbed trailer and Colette (who had stopped drinking after the 7th drinking game) took everyone back to the tower.  Surprisingly card production was quite high this week, I think the girls are hoping to do a 'sleepover' at the local pub  more often!!!!!!!!  Eeeek!!
