Fairy Tale Friday

Wednesday night was Halloween, one of the girls' favorite times in the year. Preparation started on their day off (Saturday), and all the girls worked well together trying to make some spectacular outfits.  Maritha insisted she was going as Bjorn from Abba, but the other girls demanded she try something else. She's gone out at Halloween as Bjorn for the past ten years and they were not taking her to the pub if she did it again.

Like all crafting girls, the costumes were still being fussed over on Wednesday morning, all half complete, and they were going out at 6:00 PM that evening. That's when the chaos starts, in fact by the the time the girls were ready to go out, the place was a bombsite. Ah well, Debbie could tidy up in the morning.

Down the street the team went; Gayle was dressed as a fairy, Claire was dressed as a little devil, Maritha was not Bjorn, but had instead been really creative and was dressed as Benny from Abba instead!!  Gina was dressed as Madonna, complete with a cone shaped bra, and finally Colette, Elaine, and Sonia were three of the Teletubbies (no one ever said the girls kept up with childrens TV). So they were Tinky Winky, Laa-Laa and Po. All the girls refused to be Dipsy.

They wandered down the road into the village looking for people to trick or treat. The problem is that the girls always give a 'song' as their trick, and as we found out a couple of months ago with their attempt at a choir, none of the girls were particularly good singers. Therefore the villagers were in hiding for the evening. They'd accept no wizards and witches or members of Abba into their houses tonight. After several houses failed to open their doors, the downhearted girls headed to the local pub. Here it was busier, and the girls found there were others dressed up there too. The barmen were dressed as the members of the Beatles which may have looked good if they weren't all mid to late fifties and generally all overweight. For patrons, there were the four Brown Brothers, local farmers who also had their own barbershop quartet. That may sound very cool, but door's were shut on them too. The girls may be poor singers, but these boys are all tone deaf. The boys were dressed as all four members of Abba. You could tell that as Brian and Jo were dressed as Agnetha and Anni Frid.

Drink was flowing, the guys and girls were drunkenly singing Abba songs all night. The barmen all had ear plugs in, so orders were placed in writing at the bar. Only when the voices started to strain then drop out did they decide it was time to go home. Staggering out into the street they said goodnight to the Brown brothers, and also the barmen who locked the doors and went home for the night.

It was a big surprise the next morning for Maritha when she woke to find herself in the Brown brother's farmhouse, and that Paul Brown awoke in Teddy Bo Towers surrounded by a lot of hungover women in very dirty and crumbled Halloween costumes.  ONE of the groups had taken home the wrong 'Benny'!!!  Maritha has decided to change her costume for next year!!
After the Halloween shennanigans the girls decided that card making might have been safer!!
