Christmas was coming, so the girls decided that as tight as things were, they'd need to diversify and try to bring in some more money. Elaine came up with the idea of using Teddy Bo Towers as a venue for concerts, so Donna was sent out to look for a band that could perform on Saturday night, while the others looked at advertising the gig, an alcohol license, nibbles, and how to set up the gig in the Towers main hall.
Donna went about town asking the locals who they would want to see at the first gig. The response was mixed, One Direction, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble. All BIG stars that would be way out of the girls budget. However, she did manage to sign a band for their opening night.
Meanwhile Gayle talked to the local pub and the Councillor and had managed to get a liquor license for the evening as a trial. The only limit was that the bar had to shut at 10:30 PM on the night of the gig. "10:30 PM" thought Gayle. "The girls will only be onto their 2nd bottle of vodka by that time", but that's as far as the Councillor would go.
Colette was in charge of advertising. She put a couple of posters in the village, and put out a massive internet campaign out through the websites the girls used. It took her all of 15 minutes to get this all done, so she had the full day to pick out her outfit for the concert the following evening.
Lau went to the local store to pick up nibbles. She had a tenner to cover all the food requirements, so she went for cheesy balls and onion rings. Classy foods for the evening, and enough to keep everyone going, or at least until it ended at 10:30 PM.
Finally the rest of the girls had the hard job. Moving all the crafting materials, the banks of sewing machines, work tables and all the other materials to other rooms, so that the main room would be free to welcome as many guests as possible. In fact there was so much stuff to move, and so little space outwith the main hall, they had to put boxes into the newly repaired toilet. In fact Trudie carried the last of the boxes in, and when she turned around, she couldn't get the door open. All the screaming and shouting, but no one appeared to save her. She settled down for the night in the hope someone would rememember her. In fact the other girls complained she was a lazy so and so, hiding away when there was work to do. If only they knew!!
And so the morning of the concert came, and the girls all raced to the toilet to get ready. But the door was locked. All eyes turned on Debbie who had sneakily boarded up the toilet door a couple of weeks ago, but she pled her innocence. They all charged in a group against the door BANG! and then a shrill scream escaped from the room!!! The girls looked at ech other, Trudie cried out 'who's there', and then a further hour was spent moving boxes about before the door could be opened, and she could climb out.
Finally the evening began, odd as it may seem, there were ninety nine women to one man. I suppose that's what you get when you advertise your concert on a big list of craft websites. The booze was flowing, the girls were starting to make some money, and then the band came on. 'B.A.A.B' were an ABBA bootleg band, unfortunately it was three rather overweight guys and a skinny girl on stage. They bounded onto with the backing track playing and immediately started singing 'Super Trooper'. However, the vocals with three guys and one girl didn't quite work, but the crafting girls were already bouncing about the main hall screaming at the top of their voices and downing alcohol in large quantities.
The design team could see nothing but pound signs in front of their eyes, it'd be a really good Christmas this year.
And then it all went wrong as everything seems to do at Teddy Bo Towers. The boozy women went looking for the toilet, and they found it, but the door wouldn't open. The ones at the front realising that there were boxes behind the door, but they couldn't escape from the girls pushing in, and before long, ninety nine women were pushing at the door. SNAP, CRACK, THUMP, and the door fell inwards followed by the girls.
It took fifteen minutes to get them all seperated, then the first aid for cuts and bruises, and finally Gayle had to return their ticket money after threats of bringing in the police. So we're left where we started, a messy Tower and no money for Christmas, looks like it will be home made gifts again.
I've used TeddyBo_128 for this card and coloured him in with promarkers.
The backing paper is from MCS Winter Whimys CD. The big snowflake is a great big foam one that is covered with glitter! I have also added a few sliver confetti snowflakes too!
