Fairy Tale Friday

The girls have been working hard over the last few weeks, so decide to have a ‘down day’ and do something fun.  Now the girls from Scandinavia are stuck in Scotland, and miss the chance to get out and ski.  After much discussion, the girls decide to go to the local indoor ski centre for the day.
The met up at the minibus on Tuesday morning, all raring to go.  The girls from Scandinavia decked out in jeans and t-shirts (they’re used to the cold), the others had found whatever woolly garments they could find.  T-shirts with two jumpers, scarves and jackets.  Big padded boots, hats and gloves were the order of the day.  Except for Gayle, who is cold even when it’s 90 degrees outside.  Four jumpers and two jackets she had.  Six pairs of socks on her feet, below the heavy hiking boots.  She looked like the female Michelin Man lumbering towards the car.
Gayle was driving as usual.  Every gear change brought out a whine or a growl from the minibus as she couldn’t move her arms and legs properly, let alone see over her scarves.
Finally they arrived and went to the ticket office.  As usual, Gayle paid, but it took 20 minutes for her to pull off the mittens, gloves, and fingerless gloves.  Then she had to find her purse which was in a pocket in one of her jumpers.
And finally they were on the ski run.  The Scandinavian girls had their ski’s on, and were already at the top of the hill.  Gayle, with her dodgy knees was sledging, and  spent the next twenty minutes trying to pull the sledge up the hill.  It was only at this point when half way up she turned to see Debbie was sitting on the sledge behind her.  Gayle let go, and Debbie sitting on the sled, slid down the hill, picking up speed, and knocking all the other skiers down as if it was a bowling alley.  She arrived at the bottom of the hill where she was quickly surrounded by lots of people shouting and complaining.   Gayle made a break for it.
Donna, was never really sporty.  She decided that it would be cool to build herself an igloo, and she dug up blocks of packed snow from the hill, and took them to a flat area where she could build her masterpiece.  She’s been doing this for an hour when Elaine came skiing down hill, flopped straight into the big hole that Donna had just dug, and she careered across the snow smashing into Maritha’s half built igloo.  Three more people landed on top of Debbie.  And yes, you guessed it, more shouting and complaining.
The manager entered the skiing area to find half a dozen arguments taking place.  Each of them begun by one of the design team girls.  Normally the girls are all barred from places in a single group, but the manager wasn’t aware they were a single group, so now all the girls seem to have their own paperwork and mug shots behind the reception desk.

Teddy Bo Tuesday

In the words of Mr Michael Bublé,

"it's a beautiful day"

Okay, the weather might not be great, but it's beautiful day inside my head!!  I hope you feel the same wherever you are today.

The girls have been busy this week getting the Towers ready for Easter.....there are chocolate wrappers all over the house but for the life of me I can't find any chocolate!!!  I think a bit too much testing is being done!

They did manage to make some wonderful cards though...x

Remember ladies, our challenge is still open....doesn't close until this Sunday, the 31st March at midnight UK time.

And we're only a week away until our next we'll be back on Saturday with some sneak peeks...x

Fairy Tale Friday

The girls as a whole are generally behind the times when it comes to social phenomenon.  They may have internet access, but it’s generally used for ordering supplies, and looking at pictures of semi-naked men.
However, by accident, they found out about the students that did a Harlem Shake in the college library, and thought it would be a good idea to wind the local library up (They refuse to drop Gayle’s £40 fine for books being months overdue).
And so they turned up at the library, giant ‘boom box’ ready to blare out the Harlem Shake music (Colette took 40 minutes and a lot of swearing to get the music from the internet – legally of course).
Claire was up.  She danced like a looney while the music blared out, but there was the owner of the local butcher’s doing the same thing.  They squared up to each other for a Harlem Shake dance off, music pounding, the girls sitting patiently waiting for the key change.
Then it happened.  Suddenly the girls put on funny wigs, pulled off cardigans to reveal bright fluorescent outfits, and they danced like maniacs across the room.  At the same time, a bunch of guys all working in or with the local butcher ripped of jumpers and leaped about in bright, flashy costumes.
Oh oh.  It was a turf war.  Crafty ladies verses the Butcher boys, and everyone in between scarpered.
I was going to say it was like a scene from West Side Story, with the Sharks and the Jets fighting it out through dance.  However, it was more a Harlem Shuffle than a Harlem Shake (except for Louise who does have some shaky hands) as the chronically unfit crafty ladies, and the generally obese butcher boys struggled to pull any moves whatsoever.
One of the butchers looked like he was doing breakdancing, but he’d only dropped his wallet, and spent the rest of the song leaning over and spinning around and around trying to pick it up.
Then it got worse.  The song ended, and it had been taped over an old Abba album, so suddenly we were half way through Waterloo.  And at the same time, the butcher’s ‘boom box’ hit us with Sinitta and So Macho.  The dancing continued, getting more intense as both sides sashayed around the library.  Both Maritha and Ben the Butcher danced at each other, and there was a collision of heads, leaving both of them unconscious on the floor.  That got everyone’s back up, and suddenly spinning men and women were pointing and shouting at each other.
“Hush” shouted the head librarian.  Everyone stopped and looked at her, then at each other, then finally to the floor.  “Sorry”, came the reply from both crafty ladies and butcher boys.
And that’s how our design team were banned from the local library.

Fairy Tale Friday

As promised last week, behold the might of the Team Teddy Bo Delta Force Crafting Experts. Below is the tale of the team's first foray into being superheros.

The posse of female superheroes entered the village square at night. A patrol to ensure the good citizens of the village were safe and well, and there was no hankie pankie going on.

It was ten o’clock and it had been really quiet, and the girls were getting bored, when they came upon a young couple smooching in the alleyway. They all lined up around the corner to allow Maritha time to switch on her ‘boom box’. The sounds of Abba’s Super Trooper (and her 'singing') playing in the evening air. That split the couple apart as they looked around the alley, trying to work out where the awful sounds were coming from.

And then it happened. From one end of the alleyway, women in skin tight scuba suits and capes that were clutched tightly around their wobbly bits approached the young couple.

“That’s enough of that young ones”, said Gayle. “This is a clean town, and they’ll be no public kissing until your married”

The poor kids didn’t have a clue as to what to do so took off down the lane to escape these odd ladies, the boy turning only to get a single photo of the group on his phone camera.

“Well”, said Claire, “that’s one unwanted teenage pregnancy avoided”.

Happier now, they continued their patrol by visiting the village's bank, walking around it for a whole hour, but nothing happened. Debbie was starting to get a bit peckish, so she went into the corner shop to get some crisps, and was followed by the remainder of the group. The poor shop owner nearly had a heart attack as a group of masked people charged into his shop. However, he did make a fortune from all the wine and vodka they bought (just to have something to drink with their crisps).

And so with the night quiet, and no criminals around, the girls decided to patrol the village green, where they could drink their booze into the wee small hours. And that’s when they encountered the boy racer, and his little sports car that sped through along main street, and out beside the village green.

As quick as a flash the girls raced to the main road, leaping over the little fence that surrounded the park area. Only Sonia and Donna fell, Louise went back to help them up. The others reached the roadside as the car came speeding round the corner.

Those ladies did the heroic thing. They stepped onto the road. The driver saw them, tried to avoid them, and mounted the pavement, just missed Donna as she was getting to her feet, and crashed his car through the fence, down the small embankment (those girls managed to run up the grassy embankment in heel’s) and tipped the car into the pond. The girls then raced away so that they could escape with their identities still unknown.
The girls had saved the day, one less numpty on the road.

It’ll be interesting to see how the driver writes out his insurance claim. Not sure that the insurance company will believe a bunch of female superhero’s caused it!!!
Once the girls had removed their superhero outfits with the help of a couple of shoe-horns and some liberal applications of vaseline they managed to make some wonderful cards...x

Fairy Tale Friday

Batman was seen in Bradford this week handing in a criminal to the local police station. He vanished before cops could find out who he was, but this concept caused a bit of a stir with the girls. They went to the video shop and hired out some superhero films such as Batman, Superman, Catwoman, and Kick Ass. Everything was going well; wine and popcorn was flowing all the way through the first two films. Then they got to Catwoman, a truly awful film, but her outfit was great. “I want one of those” said Gayle. “We could all go out and fight crime. We could be a superhero team”.
And then they watched the movie 'Kick Ass'
“Wow” was a common comment all the way through the film. “Maybe we should just get the costumes, we don’t need to go and fight crime”, said Gayle. Others agreed. The film was so violent, Claire and Donna spent most of the film with a cushion in front of them.
“We know they all wear scuba suits. Maybe we can order a load in bulk, then paint them when they get here”, said Colette
“Can I get a cape as well”, said Louise. " Every superhero needs a cool cape."
And so outfits were ordered. Arriving two days later, the girls tried the outfits on. Now I don’t know if you’ve ever tried on a Scuba diving suit, but these things are tight. In fact any lumps and bumps on the girls were highlighted even more when they were in the suit. This led to a bunch of grumpy women talking about diets. That was until Louise reminded everyone about capes. “Capes”, she said, ‘ could hide a multitude of sins”. And so the main hall curtains were ripped down, and before we knew it, the girls all had a red flowing cape, and a scuba suits!!
Lau said, “what about masks? We can’t let anyone know our secret identities”. And then the sewing machines, still hot from the capes were started up again, making masks for everyone and then little frills to be sewn onto the capes. Then someone suggested sequins, and a few hours later, the edges of each cape glowed in the sunlight.
They were ready. A line of woman all in identical superhero costumes, all holding their capes over their various wobbly bits. A sight to strike fear into the hearts of any villains (and any good people too).
“We need a team name”, said Sonia.
“I want the “Brad Pitt appreciation team”, said Claire.
“What about ABBA”, said Maritha.

And this went on for hours until they settled on Team Teddy Bo Delta Force Crafting hardly rolls off the tongue!!!!

Next week, we’ll find out about their first big superhero adventure.

Just before they all squeezed into their scuba suits Super Hero outfits, the girls managed to make some gorgeous cards...x
